Service Projects
Our club has several service projects we do on a regular basis. Check out this page for more information.
EquiVenture
We help Equiventure by having a stick horse class at each of our shows. All the entry fee money for that class is donated to the program. We also help with Learning For Life which is a day event where we bring our horses and let mentally and physically handicapped children from area schools ride.
EquiVenture Therapeutic Riding Inc. is a nonprofit organization which offers disabled individuals in the Kokomo area the opportunity to enjoy the therapeutic and recreational benefits of horseback riding. A staff of volunteers work very hard to provide a quality therapeutic riding program at no cost to our riders. We are one of the few in the country that can say that and we have done it since 1993!
Volunteers assist in the classes by leading a horse or sidewalking. Help is also needed in the barn to brush and tack horses. The minimum age for volunteers to lead or sidewalk is 14 years. There are some opportunities for 12 or 13 year olds with horse experience to help in the barn. Classes run 2 evenings per week at the EquiVenture barn and vary from 20 to 45 minutes in length. There are up to 5 riders per class. You may choose which days and times you want to volunteer. It helps us if you can commit to a regular time. The average volunteer commitment is 3 hours per week.
