Horse bowl is a fun and exciting way to test your horse knowledge. You compete on teams of 4-5 members using buzzers, much like a team version of Jeopardy. The horse bowl competition consists of rounds. In each round you have one-on-one questions, open question and open questions with a bonus attached. These questions come from the following resources:
Horses & Horsemanship - National 4-H Council
Horse Science - National 4-H Council
Horses & Horsemanship (6th Edition) - Ensminger
The Horse (2nd edition) - Evans, Borton, Hintz & Van Vleck
State Line Tack Catalogs
Illustrated Dictionary of Equine Terms
Since most people don't have all these resources at home, we provide questions for you to study to be prepared. Each week we will go over a specific subject. The following week questions will come from the subject we just studied. Much of horse bowl is instant recall of information you have learned.
We want you to have fun in the midst of preparing for the horse bowl. We have also found that those who participate on the various teams are well prepared for the required tests during the show season. If you're interested, feel free to come prepared to have fun and meet new people while learning about the horse industry. You can check the calender on our website for meeting times and places.
